The Momentum Builds

At a time when all of the other books and news reports about staying at work versus staying at home make us feel insecure, unsure and guilty, this book is meant to inspire women that we can succeed at work AND family.

Some people simply aren't cut out to be full time Moms. If that is you, that is fine. You don't have to go to the other extreme however and try to make Moms who do love it seem ridiculous for doing so.

I'm not trying to make stay-at-home motherhood look ridiculous. In fact, I know moms who at this point, can afford to stay home and are happy. But what I find disturbing are the slew of articles that show women (the best and the brightest) happily leaving the workforce to take on motherhood fulltime -- with no regrets. Not only is this not the reality for most American women but it can make the rest of us feel guilty if not working is not an option. It also makes us feel that perhaps we're inadequate moms because we are craving more stimulation than just caring and playing with out kids.

Also, and I believe this completely, that most women want to do some work other than just raising their children. Lately, our culture has bought into this retro myth that raising kids should be the be all and end all for women --no one expects dads to find complete and utter satisfaction in being with their kids 24/7 -- it's expected that they have other places to channel their energy and creativity. So why should it be any different for mothers?

Hey, Wendy. I don't know if I'd like your book, but I'm very glad you've written a book on the subject.

Many members of my forum, The Perfect World, discuss this subject vehemently, with a substantial number of posters taking the same position as you have (if I'm gathering it correctly from the blurbs). Feel free to come check it out.

Also, why on earth are you providing non-affiliate links to your book? Are you insane? Affiliate with Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Powells immediately! It's free, and you'll take an additional piece of money home from every sale you make from this site.
